Sea ice in May 2007

The Coast Guard went on one ice-exploring flight during the month, on May 4th.  The ice was 47n.m. northwest of Blakknes.  Two dispatches from ships came through, the first on May 17th when a ship arrived at dense ice about 55n.m. NNW off Straumsnes.  The latter dispatch was made on May 30th, reporting on ice on Kögurgrunnur and dense ice about 55n.m. NNW and N off Kögur.

Notheasterly winds were predominant in the Greenland strait in the beginning of the month and also in the latter part of the month. Southerly winds, especially southwesterly, were predominant in the middle of the month.
