1 Introduction
Climate change is predicted to affect the hydrology of Finland considerably. By the
2080s average annual temperature in Finland is expected to increase by 3–7◦C and
average precipitation by 13–26%, with the largest increases during winter (IPCC

Short presentations of own dissertation study
All 13 participating PhD students are requested to give an 7 minutes presentation about their own
dissertation study. This is done in two batches on Monday and Tuesday morning respectively.

The three scheduled lectures concern topics which scored high among the indicated topics in the PhD

South Iceland seismic zone (SISZ). Approximately every 100 years a sequence of large
earthquakes of magnitudes M 6-7 occurs in the zone and traces of many Holocene faults
