Westfjords and on the 9th of December, sea ice was closest to shore, according to satellite images about 25n.m. north off Horn. Easterly winds were dominant in the Greenland Strait up until the
end of the month, but from the 25th of December southerly winds were dominant. The sea ice had drifted far off shore and was miles away around the holidays, in spite of the change in wind. The Met office issued
