institutions in communicating climate change and to warn about the possible

the radar backscatter signal recorded at 14:20 hrs on 23 May 2011. Also, the maximum backscatter in the vertical plane is shown, which can be used in estimating the height of the plume. At this time, the plume reached heights of 8 - 12 km.
During the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption, the weather radar proved to be a very useful tool, but the great distance to the eruption site (160 km) reduced

Hydropower is the most important renewable energy source for electricity in the Nordic area. It is
therefore of great interest to analyse the possible impacts of climate change on both the future
production and the safety of the system. This is the aim of the Hydropower-Hydrology group of CES.

the ongoing eruption, although there are irregularities in GPS displacements at nearby stations. The
northern extent of the dyke intrusion has not changed to any great extent.
When Sunday’s eruption began earthquake activity decreased somewhat, although seismicity

earthquakes greater than M3.0 were recorded since noon on Wednesday in or around the caldera. The largest
ones were M5.2 at 15:24 on Wednesday and at 21:22 last night.
Very little seismic activity is now detected in the northern part of the dyke and around the eruption site.
GPS measurements show minor movements. No great changes were detected.
No change was detected in water monitoring

expected.
Conditions at eruption site: The eruption site is in the southwest corner of the Grímsvötn
caldera, in the same place as the 2004 eruption. The basaltic magma is
