embrace the observations, typically 0.5 + 1500/Z > k > 0.3 + 100/Z are used.
These curves have no direct physical meaning but are just chosen as they give good fitting boundaries
on the k-values of the Brown and Hoek data set. Slunga (1988) showed the result by Jamison and Cook

calculated travel time differences for pairs of closely spaced earthquakes observed at a series of
recording stations. Each earthquake is paired with several other earthquakes and the best fitting

The hydrological simulations were performed with the Wa-
tershed Simulation and Forecasting System (WSFS) developed
and operated in the Finnish Environment Institute (Vehviläinen

If the relocated seismicity shows any distinct fault patterns, the joint interpretation of the
events defining the fault and their mechanisms can be used to determine an overall slip

The five Ci values determined in step one by fitting the PGV values of the five reference
earthquakes, are used to determine a magnitude scale, assuming that h is a linear function of Mw
and that the magnitude coefficient is equal to one, analogous to the Richter scale. The Ci values

lightning height. It is possible that the different best fitting time constants reflect different
plume heights. However, in the early hours of an eruption we would prefer to make no
assumptions on the plume height. Further work on a suitable wind correction is needed.
