Web update - avalanches
Improvements and additions
IMO's web-site is undergoing update due to necessary improvements. Apologies for any inconvenience which this may bring, temporarily.
Station forecasts, as well as wind-, temperature and precipitation forecasts, will now be based on data from two models. The first 48 hours will be based on HIRLAM from the Danish Meteorological Office, DMI, whereas forecasts for the third to seventh day will be based on a model from ECMWF.
Avalanche conditions are now given on a selected front page. Additionally, a forecast of avalanche danger for selected highland areas will be given twice a week. This risk estimate is designed with highland travellers in mind and does not reflect avalanche danger in habited areas.
Further changes, updates and improvements can be expected on IMO's web during the next weeks and months.
