Sea ice in May 2008
The Coast Guard went on one ice-exploring flight during the month, on the 29th. The flight was off the Westfjords and the ice-density was 4-7/10. The sea ice was closest to shore about 35 n.m. North off Kögur and about 45 n.m. westnorthwest of Straumsnes. Other sea-ice dispatches were not received. Norteasterly winds were predominant in the Greenland Strait in the month but as of the 24th westerly winds were prevailing.
