    at the eastern margin of Skeiðarárjökull and the mountains in the background are Krossgilstindur (near) and Færnes (further). The event is a glacier outburst flood in river Gígjukvísl. However, the photo shows the river outlet of Skeiðará, which changed its course in 2009 and now runs due west along the margin of Skeiðarárjökull outlet glacier and contributes to Gígjukvísl, see map from ja.is /about-imo/news/bigimg/2859
