activity. The subsidence rate of the caldera had shortly increased around one hour after the M5.3 and is now again back to normal rates, see graph, which also is a frequent observation associated with M>5 earthquakes in Bárðarbunga. Around 20 events have been detected in the northern part of the dyke intrusion; the strongest was 2.1 at 11:51 yesterday. Activity has been low around /earthquakes-and-volcanism/articles/nr/3011/
  • 43. A minor eruption underway

of Fagradalsfjall, M4,4 at 12:06, M4,0 at 12:24, M4,1 at 13:51 og M4,2 at 15:10. All those are in a similar location as the M5,7 earthquake. Our interpretation is that these are triggered earthquakes caused by the intense activity and deformation that has occurred in the area. The swarm is still ongoing and roughly 5000 earthquakes have been detected with the automatic system since the beginning /about-imo/news/earthquake-swarm-in-reykjanes-peninsula
