  • 4. Earthquake activity east of Grímsey has decreased

    parts of the Grímsey fault system. The events of 2nd April were reported earlier. Later that evening new activity started 15-20 km southeast of the main cluster, and around 23:00 two earthquakes M4.7 and 4.6 were measured in that area and felt widely in North Iceland.     northwest of the Westfjords, and the one closest to shore was 89 nm NW of Barði. No main ice edge was seen in the Icelandic waters. The seaice moved southwards in the month, i.e. south by the Blosseville cost of East Greenland. IMO issued a satellite image November 23rd where the sea ice edge could be seen clearly.
