draining from Vatnajökull regions affected by the unrest is normal for this
time of the year. At the Upptyppingar hydrometric station on Jökulsá á Fjöllum, discharge has
averaged 180 m3/s in recent days and conductivity is close to 180 uS/cm. A sensor in
Rjúpnabrekkukvísl (Skjálfandafljót water divide, NW part of Bárðarbunga) shows 60 uS/cm today

originates from the western Skaftá ice cauldron, which last drained in September 2012. Discharge measurements at Sveinstindur are likely to be overestimated due to icing on the riverbanks. Further downstream, in Skaftárdalur, where there is no icing the discharge is presently ~180 m³/s. A stench of hydrogen sulphide is in the vicinity of Skaftá, but closer to the ice margin - where floodwater

this morning gave 455 m3/s, and another measurement, around 16:00
GMT, showed an increase to 627 m3/s. Electrical conductivity has
increased since the beginning of the outburst from 180 µS/cm to 320
µS/cm.
Seismic tremor: Seismic tremor has been increasing at seismic station ‘grf’, located
near Grímsvötn, since late on 27 October 2010. This tremor is similar
