Activity summary:
The effusive eruption that started around 20:23 UTC on Sundhnúksgígar crater row north of Grindavík continues. The activity decreased during the night and now there are three active openings on the eruptive fissure. Active lava fronts are in the northwest and southeast of the eruption site. The southeast lava front may reach the seashore later today. SO2 has been detected near the eruption site. Peak of SO2 measurements went up to 15000 g/m3 early this morning. SO2 flux has not been measured from the eruption. The development of this eruption is similar to the three previous eruptions in the same area.

The volcanic plume is estimated reaching 4000ft. No ash is detected.
