Possible risk of elevated river levels and mudflows
Today, there has been heavy rainfall in the East fjords. In Neskaupstaður, river levels are elevated due to rain, over 40 mm in 2 hours, with the possibility of mudflows.
Heavy rain and discharge is forecast for Strandir in the northwest. In Northern Iceland, northerlies are forecast with considerable rain.
These conditions are expected to last through the week-end.
Sudden flash flows cannot be excluded in circumstances like these.
Checking on drainage near buildings and in streets, encouraged.
