Bad weather expected

IMO wants to draw attention to bad weather prospects for this week.

By mid-day Tuesday increasing northerly winds with snowfall and decreased visibility will be prevalent in the northern part of the country. Wind velocities will be on average 12-20 m/s.

Road conditions can become very bad within short time in these conditions. Farm animals should also be sheltered during this time.

Strong gusts of wind are expected south of Vatnajökull glacier from tomorrow afternoon until Saturday.

This weather is expected to last for several days. Model forecasts suggest that the winds will be stronger on Thursday and Friday with increased snowfall. The storms are expected to last until Saturday. Text forecasts are more reliable and updated frequently. Also, forecaster's remarks appear when neccessary.

The southern half of the country will mostly stay dry but winds will be strong.

Temperature will be from 0 til -7 °C.
